3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold diagnosed with stage 4 cancer

Brad Arnold, the lead singer of the American rock band 3 Doors Down, announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. The cancer has spread to his lungs. Arnold, 46, shared the news on Wednesday in a video message.

He said that while the diagnosis is severe, his faith in God leaves him unafraid. “I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all,” Arnold said. Arnold explained that he was hospitalized a few weeks ago after feeling ill.

Doctors diagnosed him with clear cell renal cell carcinoma. This is the most common form of kidney cancer. It can be treated through immunotherapy and surgery, according to the National Cancer Institute.

The five-year survival rate for this type of cancer ranges from 50% to 69%. However, when the cancer has metastasized, as in Arnold’s case, treatment becomes more challenging. The survival rate drops to about 10%.

The band’s summer tour, which was scheduled to begin on May 15 in Daytona Beach, has been canceled. Co-headliner Creed, with whom 3 Doors Down was set to perform, shared their support.

Creed’s lead singer, Scott Stapp, encouraged Arnold via Instagram. “If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it’s YOU brother,” Stapp wrote. The announcement sparked an outpouring of support and prayers from fans and fellow musicians.

Singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw commented, “May God bless you brother. Showing us how to conquer the darkness with light.”

In his video message, Arnold highlighted the significance of the band’s 2008 hit “It’s Not My Time” as a personal anthem during this challenging period. He requested the support of his fans, whom he described as “the best fans in the world.”

3 Doors Down was formed in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi.

The original members were Arnold, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Matt Roberts, and bassist Todd Harrell. They gained fame with their debut album “The Better Life,” featuring the hit single “Kryptonite.

The current band lineup includes Arnold, rhythm guitarist Chris Henderson, guitarist Chet Roberts, drummer Greg Upchurch, and bassist Justin Biltonen. The diagnosis and subsequent tour cancellation mark a significant moment for 3 Doors Down and their fans.

The band’s supporters have stood by them through various changes and challenges over the years.
