March 20, 2013

Happiness is a fundamental human right. That’s why the United Nations instituted a worldwide day devoted to the notion that progress isn’t just about growing an economy but making sure people can pursue their own sense of well-being. And on this day in history in 2013, the very first International Day of Happiness was observed.

The day is accompanied by a World Happiness report that ranks countries on their happiness levels. In 2018, Finland won the top spot. The United States was 18th.
