English is the most common language spoken at home in all 50 states. In 46 states, Spanish ranks second. But then things get interesting.
The German language has two concentrated pockets of popularity — Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, and further west in Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado. Also, South Carolina.
Vietnamese shows up in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Oregon, and Mississippi.
French is common in Louisiana and several states in the northeast.
