Recently I was talking to my 22-year-old daughter about a show I really liked on Netflix.

Her response? “Mom, you are not exactly the intended audience.”

We were on the phone, but I could hear her rolling her eyes.

Then, the knife: “You won’t get it.”

Her comment made me want to drop the phone and run from the room screaming “Screw age appropriate!”

Then it made me want to watch more shows. Here are four Netflix shows—including the one that inspired the eye roll—that your kids don’t think you should watch, mostly because they think you won’t get it, plus a bonus recommendation of a show for which you really are the intended audience.

I urge you to check out all five: They’re good, they’re entertaining, and you just might learn something.

And if you don’t get it? Who cares?
