Anne Burrell, a beloved chef and Food Network star, passed away at the age of 55 on June 17, 2025, at her home in Brooklyn, New York. Emergency services responded to a 911 call about a reported cardiac arrest at Burrell’s address around 7:50 a.m. on June 17. Officers from the New York City Police Department found Burrell “unconscious and unresponsive” at the scene.
The evening before her death, Burrell participated in an improv show at The Second City in Brooklyn. She had been taking improv classes and expressed her excitement about the show on Instagram, inviting others to attend.

Her classmate, Jane Margolis, confirmed that Burrell had attended the show as planned and shared her shock at the news of her passing.

Burrell is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, whom she married in October 2021 after meeting on Bumble in 2018, along with his son Javier, her mother Marlene, her sister Jane, her brother Ben, and their children.
