Gary Coleman’s ex-wife Shannon Price recently took a lie detector test on the premiere episode of A&E’s “Lie Detector: Truth or Deception.” The test, conducted by former FBI agent George Olivo, focused on the circumstances surrounding Coleman’s fatal fall in 2010. Price faced several key questions during the polygraph examination. When asked if she had ever struck Coleman during their relationship, the results were inconclusive.
Similarly, the question of whether Price intentionally withheld help from Coleman after his fall also yielded inconclusive results. However, the most significant question addressed was whether Price physically caused Coleman’s fall. Despite her denial, the polygraph indicated deception.
“You failed the exam regarding Gary’s fall,” Olivo stated. “There’s more to this story that hasn’t been told. The body never lies.
Price expressed skepticism about the polygraph results, attributing it to the fallibility of the machine while maintaining her innocence.
She cited a thorough investigation that did not lead to her prosecution.
Lie detector test controversy
Olivo countered that a lack of evidence does not necessarily equate to innocence.
Coleman, best known for his role in the sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes,” died at age 42 after suffering an intracranial hemorrhage following a fall in the Utah home he shared with Price. Despite being hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma, his condition deteriorated, and he was eventually taken off life support. Price and Coleman had a tumultuous relationship, marrying in 2007 but divorcing a year later.
They continued to live together until Coleman died in 2010. The episode also features testimonies from Coleman’s friends and loved ones who question Price’s actions, particularly her alleged refusal to help him after the fall and her decision to remove him from life support after only two days. While the polygraph results indicate deception, Olivo emphasized that they do not definitively explain what transpired.
The death certificate listed Coleman’s manner of death as an accident, and police found no evidence of foul play at the time. The premiere of “Lie Detector: Truth or Deception” has reignited interest in the mysterious circumstances surrounding Gary Coleman’s tragic death, leaving many questions unanswered. The episode featuring Shannon Price’s polygraph test airs on A&E, with new episodes set to follow in the coming weeks.
