Guy Pearce expands on Kevin Spacey allegations

Kevin Spacey has responded to Guy Pearce’s allegation that he “targeted” him while filming the 1997 movie “LA Confidential.” In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Spacey told Pearce to “grow up” and added, “You are not a victim.”

Pearce recently expanded on his alleged experiences with Spacey in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. He described Spacey as “pushing the boundaries” and making him uncomfortable on set. “I was sort of scared of Kevin because he’s quite an aggressive man,” Pearce said. “He’s extremely charming and brilliant at what he does — really impressive. But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me, no question.”

Pearce revealed that he had told his wife at the time that he felt safe on set only when co-star Simon Baker was present, as Spacey allegedly shifted his attentions elsewhere. He also shared how the #MeToo movement had been an “incredible wake-up call,” making him realize the impact of what he had brushed off or blocked out.

In his response video, Spacey questioned why Pearce had not approached him directly about the issue. “If I did something then that upset you, you could have reached out to me,” Spacey said.

“We could have had that conversation, but you’ve decided to speak to the press instead.”

Spacey also claimed Pearce had omitted to mention flying to Georgia a year after “LA Confidential” was made to spend time with him while filming another movie, “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” “Does that not fit into the victim narrative you have going?” Spacey questioned. Spacey concluded his message by saying he was open to having a conversation with Pearce “anytime, anyplace.” “I’ve got nothing to hide,” he added. “But, Guy,  you need to grow up. You are not a victim.”

Pearce had previously told the Hollywood Reporter that he had confronted Spacey about his behavior, leading to some “ugly” confrontations. He noted that his current strategy is to be more honest about the events and call them out for what they are. Kevin Spacey has faced multiple sexual assault charges over recent years.

In 2023, he was found not guilty of all charges of sexual assault against four men between 2001 and 2013 after a trial in London. In 2022, a US court also dismissed a sexual assault lawsuit against him. Despite these acquittals, Spacey currently faces a civil trial alleging sexual assault of a man in 2008, which he denies.
