Amid concerns over the spread of coronavirus, Broadway theaters will shut their doors tonight and remain closed until April 12th. This shutdown was made by order of Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York. The plan, for now, is that performances can resume on April 13th.

The ban will take effect at 5pm today, meaning that tonight’s shows are all canceled.

Governor Cuomo made the announcement today in a press conference stating that no gatherings of over 500 people would be permitted except at schools, hospitals, nursing homes and mass transit. The ban will take effect at 5pm today, meaning that tonight’s shows are all canceled.

Jeff Still, a broadway veteran who is currently appearing in previews for The Minutes, starring Armie Hammer and Tracy Letts, told us, “I am disappointed, but it’s the right move at the right time, and we’ll be back.” Watch this space.
