Oversharing on social media is nothing new, but today’s example involves the nation’s favorite side dish, a bowl of hot water, and a firing. Here are all the gooey details.

The other day a Panera Bread employee posted a video to TikTok (a video sharing platform) showing some behind the scenes footage “exposing” how they make their mac and cheese.

The employee takes a packet of frozen mac and cheese, dips it into hot water, and then pours the contents out into a bowl before serving it, laughing hysterically the whole time.

Exactly what’s so hilarious about this is a mystery. As one person tweeted, “Did people really think there was a chef hanging out in the kitchen of Panera Bread making their Mac and Cheese?”

Panera responded to a CNN request by explaining that meals are shipped frozen to avoid the addition of preservatives in their food.

By freezing individual servings, mac and cheese can be defrosted for each individual order, rather than sitting in a vat all day.

Cheesed off

The clip earned nearly 950,000 likes on the app, but later the user shared an update: she had been fired for her actions.

For generation social media, sharing this type of content is all about receiving likes and followers with little regard for the impact it can have on their careers. (“We can’t comment on personnel matters,” a Panera spokesperson told CBS.) When something is posted to the internet it is often there permanently. Not only did her current employer find it, but any potential employers could too.

If you have a momentary lapse in judgment and upload a video ridiculing your employer to a social media platform, you’ll probably want to avoid these eight resume mistakes as you start looking for a new job.
