This Sunday Tom Brady became the oldest quarterback to win the Super Bowl—replacing Peyton Manning, the previous record holder—and the first QB to collect six Super Bowl rings.

But despite his extraordinary staying power, Brady, who will be 42 in August, took considerable flak for his age before the game. That included a bit of trash talk from Los Angeles Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman, who told a reporter that age is taking its toll on Brady.

In response, Brady stayed above the fray with a “Yeah, I don’t have much to add.” And presumably Brady didn’t mind when his Patriots teammate and friend Julian Edelman used his advanced age to motivate him during the AFC title game that got them to Super Bowl LIII.

But the brouhaha got us thinking about all the other athletes who have maintained their greatness far longer than their peers.

These aren’t just outstanding athletes who’ve stuck around well past the typical retirement age: They’ve recorded notable late-career achievements too. Here’s a look at just a few.
