John Cena shocks fans with heel turn

John Cena shocked the WWE Universe at Elimination Chamber: Toronto 2025. He won a brutal match to secure a WrestleMania 41 title shot. The match featured six top superstars: Cena, Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest.

In the end, it came down to Cena vs. Punk. After an intense battle, Cena emerged victorious. He was set to face Cody Rhodes, the current champion, at WrestleMania.

Rhodes came to the ring to congratulate Cena. Suddenly, The Rock’s music hit. He had offered Rhodes a deal to make his dreams come true in exchange for his soul.

Rhodes turned it down. Cena seemed to support Rhodes’ choice at first. But then he blindsided the champ with a devastating Attitude Adjustment.

Cena stood over Rhodes, holding the WWE title. His shocking heel turn was complete.

Cena shocks with surprise betrayal

This marked the end of Cena’s record-setting run as WWE’s ultimate good guy. For over a decade, he was the company’s heroic face. His “Never Give Up” motto and colorful gear made him a fan favorite, especially with kids.

Cena hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since the betrayal. But he’s been active on social media. He recently teased bringing back his old “Basic Thuganomics” theme song on TikTok.

Cena is set to make his first appearance as a heel on the March 17th episode of Raw. Fans are eager to see if he debuts a new look and entrance music. WWE legend Hulk Hogan praised Cena’s turn as one of the best he’s seen in years.

“They did it right, I’ll tell you that,” Hogan said. He believes it could lead to an unforgettable WrestleMania match. To keep the heat on his new persona, Hogan thinks Cena needs to commit to the heel role outside the ring too.

“We definitely can see Cena now, can’t we? He’s not signing autographs or doing what he’s been doing. That’s bigger than a wrestling angle,” Hogan explained.
