Jonathan Majors, the Marvel actor known for his roles in various films and series, has admitted to strangling his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in a previously unreleased audio recording. The conversation was captured in September 2022, following a prolonged fight between Majors and Jabbari while living together in London. In the recording, Jabbari confronts Majors about the alleged attack, stating, “You strangled me and pushed me against the car.” Majors responds, “Yes, all those things are under ‘aggressed,’ yeah, That’s never happened to me.”
Details of the dispute emerged during Majors’ criminal trial in late 2023, where he was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment following a separate incident in New York. He was arrested in March 2023 for allegedly attacking Jabbari, resulting in her suffering a fractured finger and a cut to the back of her ear. Throughout the trial, Majors claimed that Jabbari was the aggressor.
According to Jabbari’s civil complaint and evidence presented at trial, the prolonged fight began when Majors became upset with Jabbari for going to a pub with a friend and having the friend over to their house.
Majors admitted to violent assault
The situation escalated on September 20, 2022, when Majors allegedly became physically aggressive, pushing Jabbari and engaging in assaultive behavior.
Majors later texted Jabbari, pleading with her not to seek medical attention out of fear of an investigation. Evidence shown at the trial included messages where Jabbari expressed the physical and emotional pain she endured. The audio revelation comes in the wake of Majors’ first major interview since his domestic violence sentencing and a judge ordering him to complete a 52-week domestic violence intervention program.
In the interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Majors declined to answer specific questions about Jabbari’s accusations or any abuse claims raised by two former partners. Various industry figures have praised Majors’ talent and work ethic, expressing hope for his career’s future in Hollywood. However, Majors has never directly publicly apologized for his behavior toward his ex-girlfriends and has denied ever being physically abusive to women.
One of his ex-girlfriends, Maura Hooper, who alleged emotional abuse and controlling behavior, expressed her desire for an apology and questioned the efficacy of the mandated intervention program and any claims of Majors’ redemption.
