Kim Kardashian has opened up about her brief marriage to Kris Humphries. In a new episode of The Kardashians, she revealed that she had to give back her engagement ring to finalize their divorce. Kardashian claimed that she paid for most of the 18-carat emerald-cut diamond ring.
She said Humphries only contributed a fifth of the cost. “In order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring,” Kardashian said. She admitted that she would have loved to keep a collection of her past engagement rings.
Kardashian and Humphries got married on August 20, 2011.
Giving back the engagement ring
However, she filed for divorce 72 days later, on October 31.
Their divorce was finalized in 2013. During the episode, Kardashian’s close friend and jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz reassured her that it was for the best that she got rid of the ring. Kardashian agreed but expressed her complicated feelings toward her past engagements and marriages.
Kardashian was also married to Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004 and to Kanye West from 2014 to 2022. She previously discussed her marriages during the Keeping Up with the Kardashians reunion special in 2021. The revelation about the engagement ring sheds new light on Kardashian’s short-lived marriage to Humphries.
It also highlights the challenges and emotions of high-profile relationships and divorces.
