While many of us are still stuck in our homes, we’ve been asking ourselves a lot of questions. How long does coronavirus linger in the body? How will life change post-pandemic? What happens when you fill a watermelon with molten aluminum?

OK, that last one may not be a question anyone else is asking, and we shouldn’t try to find out ourselves. But The Backyard Scientist did the experiment for us. His YouTube channel is a space where he performs strange and potentially dangerous experiments all in the name of science.

As he begins to pour the molten aluminum into a hole he’s created in the watermelon, The Backyard Scientist expects the fruit to explode. What actually happens turn out to be more art than science. Take a look below.
