Dreams of California
As a child, going to California was Ashana’s dream. She and her two best friends would frequent Google Maps, screenshotting all the places they hoped to visit one day.
“I honestly think we manifested it,” Ashana said, “because one of my friends ended up moving to California, and so did I for college.”
Overcoming Challenges
Ashana attended Rutgers University during her freshman year, but faced a challenging point in her life. During her senior year in high school, she developed an eating disorder, something which only got worse during college. She struggled with loneliness and became sick, eventually returning home to recover. Being back home proved healing—she even attended a year of film school—and Ashana’s sister encouraged her to finish the degree.
Beginning a Vlogging Journey
It was during her sophomore year at Chapman University in California that Ashana began her vlogging journey.
“I felt inspired to start sharing my experiences, the challenges, and the exciting moments,” she said. “My main motivation was to create content for all the girls out there who dream of studying or living in the United States, hoping to offer them a glimpse of what it’s really like—and perhaps inspire them too.”

Rediscovering a Passion for the Sharing Life
Ashana was deeply grateful for her experience at Chapman and proud to have simultaneously built a small community on YouTube. Still, when she graduated, she knew it was time to return home. Equipped with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration focused on Marketing, Ashana spent the next two years working on her YouTube channel, but soon became demotivated.
When Ashana’s dad saw her struggling, he advised: “You need to do something. Get a Master’s, do YouTube seriously, or get married. Just pick something.”
Ashana took the words to heart and applied to Master’s programs in the United States. When she applied to NYU, she thought, “Okay, if I get in, maybe this is meant to be.” After she was accepted, it felt like the right step. When she went to New York, she fell in love, felt renewed independence, and was excited to create her own life.
Inspiring, Celebrating, and Growing
In New York, Ashana reignited her passion for YouTube. She had so much to discuss and wanted to share her journey and inspire others again. Ashana pushed past the self-doubt, celebrating and appreciating the smaller things in life and sharing them with her growing audience.
Soon enough, Ashana graduated with a Master of Science in Project Management from NYU, earned her Silver Play Button, and has grown to 276,000 subscribers on YouTube.
“If I hadn’t embraced this practice of genuinely accepting myself and falling in love with my own life first,” Ashana concluded, “I wouldn’t have attracted the opportunities, friends, relationships that I have that feel so aligned. Because, ultimately, the energy you radiate is exactly what you attract.”
