Lily Allen discusses having multiple abortions

British pop star Lily Allen, 40, recently opened up about her past experiences with abortion on her podcast “Miss Me?” with co-host Miquita Oliver. During the episode, Allen candidly admitted that she couldn’t remember the exact number of abortions she had undergone, estimating it to be around four or five. “I have an IUD now, I think I’m on my third, maybe fourth, and I just remember, before that was a complete disaster area,” Allen said.

“I’d get pregnant all the time.”

She even joked about the situation by singing a parody of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” quipping, “Abortions, I’ve had a few, but then again, I can’t remember exactly how many.”

Allen also shared a specific memory of a past boyfriend paying for one of her abortions, which she initially found romantic. However, she later realized the gesture was less than sincere when he failed to follow up with her afterward. Oliver, 41, related to Allen’s experiences, revealing that she had also undergone approximately five abortions before switching to an IUD for contraception.

Lily Allen on abortion experiences

Both women emphasized the importance of openly discussing such experiences without judgment and the validity of choosing abortion during an unwanted pregnancy. This is not the first time Allen has been vocal about her support for abortion rights.

In 2022, following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Allen took to social media to defend a woman’s right to choose, stating, “I had an abortion because I didn’t want a child, so I had a good reason.

Several other celebrities, including Olivia Rodrigo, Meghan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, and Taylor Swift, also expressed their opposition to the ruling and their support for women’s reproductive rights. Allen, a mother of two daughters from her previous marriage to Sam Cooper, has been open about the challenges of balancing motherhood with her career as a pop star.

In 2020, she remarried actor David Harbour, known for his role in the Netflix series Stranger Things, and now resides with her children in New York City.
