Lindsay Lohan returns for Freakier Friday sequel

Lindsay Lohan has revealed that she is ready to move on from making Netflix movies. The actress, who starred in three holiday-themed romantic comedies for the streaming platform, said she can’t do these films forever. “I always want to make movies that make people happy and bring people together,” Lohan said.

“I love making movies for people to escape and realize everything’s going to be okay. But with this platform, I thought, ‘Okay, now we need to be thinking about other stuff.’ I can’t do movies like these forever.”

Lohan’s Netflix films, which include “Falling for Christmas,” “Irish Wish,” and “Our Little Secret,” were all streaming successes. “Our Little Secret” alone earned 32.4 million views in its first weekend, marking one of Lohan’s biggest streaming launches to date.

Next up for Lohan is a return to the big screen with the release of “Freakier Friday,” the sequel to 2003’s “Freaky Friday.” Lohan and original co-star Jamie Lee Curtis are back for the new installment, which opens in theaters on August 8 from Disney.

Lindsay Lohan diversifies her roles

“It’s easygoing,” Lohan said about the sequel.

“Everything felt at ease when we were making it, and that’s the best way to describe how I felt when I watched it. It felt easy, fun, and fresh at the same time.”

While Lohan is eager to explore acting opportunities beyond Netflix movies, she isn’t abandoning streaming entirely. Earlier this year, it was announced that she would star in and executive produce the Hulu series “Count My Lies,” based on the novel of the same name.

If greenlit, “Count My Lies” will mark Lohan’s first lead role in a TV series. Lohan’s transition signifies her desire to diversify her portfolio and seek out roles that push her creative boundaries. Fans eagerly await to see what directions her career will take next.
