Lola Bonfiglio auditions with family on 'American Idol'

Carnie Wilson’s daughter, Lola Bonfiglio, impressed the judges on Sunday night’s American Idol auditions.

The 19-year-old was joined by her famous mom and aunt, Wendy Wilson, for a fresh take on Wilson Phillips’ classic hit “Hold On.”

Lola had her moment in the spotlight, flanked by Carnie and Wendy, bringing a two-thirds reunion of the ’90s icons to the Idol stage. Chynna Phillips was absent, but Lola did a remarkable job capturing the harmonies.

The judges, including Carrie Underwood, sang along to the iconic song. “Hold On” was likely not Lola’s audition piece. Carnie mentioned her daughter has a different musical style.

“Lola is not this big Broadway-type singer, but she’s got something so honest and pure and lovely—sort of like this Joni Mitchell, Kacey Musgraves type of thing,” Carnie said. She also noted Lola’s growing interest in songwriting and her expanding artistry.

Carnie shared her advice for Lola’s big moment: “Just be grateful for the opportunity, and I think you’re gonna find yourself as an artist through this process.” She added, “I could not be more excited for her. This is truly her calling, her passion, and her soul shines through when she sings.”

Lola’s emotional ‘American Idol’ audition

This isn’t Lola’s first time on reality TV. She appeared on Fox’s We Are Family, where judges guessed her famous relative.

After the reveal, Lola and Carnie performed “California Dreamin’.” Lola also appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2021 with her family, performing “God Only Knows” with Clarkson. Fans can watch Lola’s full audition on American Idol tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
