April 1st has come and gone. For parents of high school seniors, that marks the official end of the college process. Hopefully, the many months of touring, list-making, applying, crossing your fingers and hoping has culminated in a pile of acceptances and excitement.

Chances are, though, that you’re also likely dealing with some disappointments, or even serious heartbreak, if your child didn’t get accepted at his dream college—or even one he’s interested in at all.

Take heart. Not only does your child still have options, but he still has a shot at getting into a great school.

While it’s true that may schools use January 1st as their application deadline, there are also dozens of well-regarded schools that offer later and/or more flexible deadlines. Some will even accept applications as late as August.

Below are 50 solid choices, in order of their deadlines, all of which appear on the best college lists in Money magazine or U.S. News.

Keep in mind that the schools may have different deadlines for specific programs, or for requesting financial aid.

Best of luck to you and your child!
