Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, has shared that he is borrowing money from his mother to pay for his wedding. This is despite his estimated net worth of around $1 billion. MrBeast explained on social media platform X, “I personally have very little money because I reinvest everything (I think this year we’ll spend around a quarter of a billion on content).
Ironically, I’m actually borrowing money from my mom to pay for my upcoming wedding.
The YouTuber is famous for his extravagant giveaways and philanthropic videos. However, he reinvests almost all of his earnings into content and charitable projects. MrBeast and his fiancée Thea Booysen got engaged on Christmas Day 2024.
They want to keep their wedding intimate and low-key.
Borrowing for wedding expenses
“This will definitely be more family and friends — definitely more private,” said MrBeast.
I don’t take many vacations because of how hard I work, so I definitely want to make sure that the wedding will be a time to celebrate with her and spend quality time with friends and family whom we truly enjoy being with.
Booysen added, “We’re thinking of doing it somewhere on an island where we’re far away from just about everybody. We’re not planning a big, extravagant wedding. It’s going to be nice, but it’s certainly going to be intimate [with] close family and friends.”
The couple, both 27, met in 2022 when MrBeast was visiting Booysen’s home country, South Africa.
They started dating shortly after. Their first public appearance as a couple was at the 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards in April. As their wedding plans continue, they remain focused on keeping the event meaningful and personal, with the financial help of MrBeast’s mother.
