Rapper Tory Lanez was stabbed 14 times by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi on Monday morning. The attack happened around 7:20 AM in a housing unit, according to prison officials. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, suffered wounds to his back, torso, head, and face.
Both of his lungs collapsed as a result of the stabbing. Prison staff gave him first aid before he was taken to a local hospital for more treatment. The 32-year-old rapper is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow musician Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
The shooting happened as they were leaving a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood home. Lanez’s Instagram account posted about the stabbing. It said that despite being in pain, he is talking normally and is thankful to God that he is pulling through.

He is now able to breathe on his own. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is investigating the stabbing.
They have not said what might have been the reason for the attack. Lanez was found guilty of three felony gun charges for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete. She needed surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet.
The case divided the hip-hop community, with artists taking sides. Lanez has had seven top 10 albums in the US in the past seven years. He said he was innocent throughout the trial.
