Scarlett Johansson praised the production company behind her upcoming film “Eleanor the Great,” despite the ongoing legal battle between its co-founder Justin Baldoni and actress Blake Lively. In an interview, Johansson mentioned that she has not had the chance to meet Baldoni due to his busy schedule filming “It Ends With Us,” which is at the center of his legal dispute with Lively. However, she expressed gratitude for the support provided by Baldoni’s company throughout the production process.

“They were super supportive throughout the process,” Johansson said. “But yeah, such weird timing.”

The lawsuit between Baldoni and Lively began in December 2024 when Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni.

She claimed that the filmmaker caused her “severe emotional distress” and orchestrated a smear campaign against her after she came forward with her allegations. Baldoni responded by filing a countersuit against Lively and others, alleging falsified stories. Johansson’s film “Eleanor the Great,” which marks her directorial debut, tells the story of a woman who accidentally joins a Holocaust survivors’ group and becomes immersed in memories from Nazi-occupied Poland shared by her friend.

The movie is set to premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in the coming weeks. Despite the legal drama surrounding Baldoni and Lively, Johansson remains focused on promoting her new film and expressed appreciation for the support she received from Baldoni’s production company during the making of “Eleanor the Great.”
