Sophia Hutchins dies in tragic ATV crash

Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s longtime friend and manager, died in a tragic ATV crash last Wednesday in Malibu, California. She was 29 years old. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating speed as a possible factor in the deadly accident.

Hutchins was traveling up a steep incline on a winding road when she attempted to pass a Mazda sedan. During the maneuver, she clipped the rear of the Mazda, lost control, and veered off the road, plunging 350 feet down a cliff. Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo provided further details on the incident.

“It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, causing her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” said Saucedo. He noted that Hutchins was not following the Mazda closely but instead came up on it quickly and failed to avoid the collision. First responders rushed to the scene and made their way down the cliffside in an effort to save Hutchins, but tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sophia Hutchins fatal crash investigation underway

The two occupants inside the Mazda were uninjured. Caitlyn Jenner was photographed on Thursday in Malibu, appearing to hold it together in the face of this immense loss.

She was seen grabbing coffee from Starbucks and was later accompanied by friends for a grocery run. Jenner notably wore black shades during both outings. Jenner first met Hutchins in 2015, shortly after going public with her transition.

Hutchins went on to appear in multiple episodes of the E! docuseries “I Am Cait” and later became Jenner’s manager, helping guide her public appearances and business ventures. Hutchins referred to Jenner as her “partner in life.”

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

The loss of such a close friend and confidant has undoubtedly been a harrowing ordeal for Jenner, who is leaning on her friends and family for support during this trying time.
